New and proud CB owner. I bought a used 2014 Honda CB1100 (Std) with about 8k miles. It had a few modifications/accessories from the previous owner, one of which was a change out of handlebars to a flatter profile and bar risers added. It looks good, but after having put a few hundred miles on, I'm really disturbed by how much vibration is being transferred through the bars. I installed new thicker grips (Oury) and added some fairly lightweight bar end weights, but it didn't really help. Does everybody's CB transmit vibration through the bars, or is it just this set up I have? I think I want to go back to stock configuration, but I wanted a little advice from everyone out there. Thanks for any input.

Welcome Bodizafa. As with almost every aspect of life, there are those who complain of vibes on this bike and those who don’t. I don’t, although they buzz a bit around the 4,000 rpm mark. But it’s not unbearable. I’ve also once lost a standard bar end weight and been oblivious to it.

Hey, Bodizafa, hello and welcome.
I am one of the sensitive to the buzz crowd. I usually get a numb fingers effect after about a half hour into a ride, which sometimes goes away and sometimes I have to deal with it by shaking my hands or shifting my grip. Quite annoying.
I recently got the Rox 2 inch riser with the vibration dampener, and also installed CB500f bars because they are flatter and I don't believe the cables and hydraulic lines would have stretched enough, so in the end the ergos are close to stock.
I have not been on a longer than 30 minute ride yet, but I like it so far, and I am headed to Shady Cove shortly so I will report back on the long haul results.
Also installed the 500f mirrors and I prefer the view and like the looks as well.

Rode 250 miles with the Rox dampener setup today, and it is an improvement. Didn't stop the numbing effect totally, but it was much better, much. Hard to quantify, but it makes a difference for me.

I too have the numb hands after 45-60 minutes of steady cruising. I just stop at the next store to give my hands a rest. Did not buy this bike for long distance touring. Its a old school retro UJM sport bike.

I also noticed the buzz on my recently acquired CB. I installed some fatter softer grips like the ones I had on the Valkyrie. In the process I removed the end weights which didn't seem to have any effect. I don't notice the vibration as much now but that maybe because I was just sensitive after riding the big 6 which has no vibration. The best thing you can do is relax your grip so your fingers can wiggle.

I understand that the factory bars are weighted to reduce buzz.
The replacement bars may not.
OTOH, my right hand, never the left, typically needs a break after a couple hours.
Although I ride less than 500 miles a day.
No issues on 460 miles Extraterrestrial ride, but I also stopped with some frequency.

While I'm not bothered by any vibration in the grips I did upgrade my grips to these Biltwell grips. Notice the profile, they have several versions with this profile. They also sell a 7/8" and a one inch version. Becareful when you order.

A buddy had them on his motorcycle and I thought they were the bomb. Look great but they also fit my hand great. A bit on the soft side (so they DO help with vibes on my XR650L). I tend to buy gloves in the XL or XXL even though I consider myself of average hand size (just long in the fingers) so keep that in mind when I speak of grip fit.
There are also gloves with gel insert to consider; depending upon what works for you, several things may have to be addressed to fix it for you. I"d try heavier bar end weights myself. Easiest what to lower a frequency is to increase the mass at the tip of the tuning fork.

I have no complaints with the stock handlebar and grips on my DLX. If your tires are worn, that could be part of the issue.
