Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - walrusz06_imp - 06-29-2015 Hi there. I recently received the road comet for my cb 1100. I installed it today, great quality etc. However I'm noticing some pretty heavy vibrations. Have any of you noticed this? Any suggestions to fix? Mostly around 2000 rpm. It's not hitting something on the bike like gauges etc. seems the fiberglass housing just resonates... Does it vibrate while on the center stand at 2000 RPM in gear or does it just vibrate at speed which might indicate a wind vibration? Yours is the first account of this and it would be interesting to know what's causing it. Chip Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - walrusz06_imp - 06-29-2015 Also on the center stand. It's engine induced. Samurider said try adjusting but I'm not sure which way to adjust it. Did you chech if the nuts are all tight on the bracket that mounts underneath the horns? Sounds like something might be loose somewhere... RE: Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - the Ferret - 06-29-2015 Is it a buzz? Maybe during installation one of the connectors inside the headlight shell got jostled enough to make contact with the headlight shell. Some have had that happen. Wrapping the connectors with foam cured that problem and made their buzzing go away. Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - walrusz06_imp - 06-29-2015 It's a clear vibration from the comet. If I hold it down with my hand and rev engine it goes away. All this no big deal when underway as any wind noise blocks out all other sounds. Try wedging a pencil eraser in between the two to see if that takes care of it. If all the mounting hardware is tight then you may need to loosen it, readjust, and then retighten. RE: Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - HikerToo_imp - 06-30-2015 Mine had a bad vibration too, and others who I got the solution from said to put two rubber "stops" that wedge between the screen and top of gauges, ( one on each side) that fixed mine and they have never fallen out. I used those rubber feet, sticky on one side that are about 3/8" tall and wide you can get at hardware stores. You can kinda see them here in the start of the video, mine are white, I want to switch to black at some point. RE: Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - Papa Weeley_imp - 06-30-2015 Walrus, I have exactly the same problem on my '13. It's not terrible, but noticeable. Mine is definitely not touching anything, and everything is tight at mounting points - it just kind of buzzes at certain RPMs. It hasn't bothered me enough to attempt to investigate the cause and fix it yet, but it's on the list. I'll be watching here to see if you find something that works! RE: Road comet 1 on 2014 vibration. - veech_imp - 06-30-2015 I'm curious, you guys who are experiencing the vibrations, do you all have Road Comet 1 models? |
