Flasher - Buzzer installation on a 2017 CB1100 - 17-CB-002 - 06-19-2018

Self Cancel Turn signal or noise buzzer installation for a 2017 CB1100.
Just curious, I am in process of adding a buzzer unit to my flasher unit. I was wondering whether someone had ever done the modification.

Reason being, got a near miss on the weekend, forgot to cancel the signal flasher after a turn, then at the next intersection a truck pulled in front of me thinking that I was turning due to the turn signal left on.
I studied the schematic and concluded that the turn flasher relay is different from conventional.
1st, it is electronic therefore noiseless.
2nd, not a regular type - will attach a schematic soon.

My idea is to install a noise buzzer which should buzz at the same pace to the flasher therefore reminding me that the turn signal is left on.
Any idea before I start my modification?
Note; same flasher unit used on 2013 models.

Alain, this thread offers other possible solutions to your problem. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=12774

I’m very pleased to hear it was a miss.

Alain, I started the thread Cormanus gave you the link to. Although hard wired buzzers/beeprs are available for about $12 on EBay, I questioned whether or not it could actually be heard while wearing a helmet with ear plugs, plus all other outside noise on the road. My conclusion was, and still is, a wireless buzzer or beeper mounted inside the helmet. If I knew how to build one, it would already be inside my helmet, because no one makes it at this point.. The link for the EBay buzzer in my original post is no longer good, so here is a current link for the same buzzer: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Audible-motorcycle-scooter-golf-cart-turn-signal-buzzer-reminder-kit/142834544633?hash=item21419a2ff9:g:0ZMAAOSwaG9XJS1t

I like these....specially for 2014 = smaller indicators, unlike 2013 had = larger

Thumbs Up

At the end of a vacation to British Columbia and the Olympic peninsula, so schematics are not available to me right now. However, the easiest would be to tie into the rear turn signals with one beeper each or a single unit with diodes.
The fronts have variable voltage to dimly illuminate a 2.1 amp single filament bulb for running lights and full voltage for turns.

Thanks Peter, We nearly met in July last year during a ride in the Cambridge area.
You came late and missed everyone as we departed on time.
Thanks for the input.
Will keep you posted if it works.

I have installed this one from eBay.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Audible-motorcycle-scooter-golf-cart-turn-signal-buzzer-reminder-kit/142834544633?hash=item21419a2ff9:g:0ZMAAOSwaG9XJS1t
it is cheap and works great !! .. I had to mount the beeper to my left handlebar, to be able to hear it well.. I also pointed it towards me.. the sound seems to be focused and directional.. the best part however, is when you apply the brake, it stops the loud beeping.. say waiting at a light.. then when you release the brakes and take off, the beeping starts up again.. then just do what it is reminding you to do and cancel the directional.. perfect !! ..

by the way, I have a 2017 CB1100.. but this beeper should work on many 12v systems.. you just have to attach 3 wires.. break into one wire leading to the left directional and one wire leading to right directional.. the easiest place, I found, was under the seat.. using the rear directionals.. (you could go into the headlight bucket as an option) the third wire is attached to the positive side of the brake light wires.. when the brake light is not on, that hot wire will act as a ground.. when the brake light is on, it no longer is a ground.. the beeper has then lost it's ground and will stop beeping..release the brake and the ground is restored to the beeper.. one more tip.. break into the directional wires as far forward as you can.. the wires supplied on the beeper are just long enough to reach to the handlebars..

Hey Chuckk: How does it sound? Like a buzz or more like a beep? Can you attach a short MP3 audio clip? (if supported by Forum site)
