Seats global - Danlea83_imp - 03-17-2019

Hi guys,

New CB1100 owner here in Australia. I’ve come across the Luimoto vintage seat cover that fits the US models 2013-16. Down here we only have the 2010-11. The seats look the same to me but they can’t tell me whether or not it will fit the Aussie model. I’m wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head if the seat is different, or if someone can help me by posting a few photos of their 2013-16 seat detached including the underside of the pan.

Much appreciated, Dan.

Cormanus, our Aussie moderator, will most likely jump in here, but it will fit.

Hey Danlea83 - Welcome to the Forum. When not elsewhere, you will be here.

G'day Danlea83. Welcome to the forum. I'll have a bit of a look around the internet and see what I can discover. I know the US and Japanese seats for the 2013 and 2014 were different. The US had a higher seat than in Japan, maybe.

The EX/DLX seat was different again.

The US part no. for the seat was 77200-MGC-D31ZA; in Australia the part number for the 2010-11 was 77200-MGC-003. I'm afraid I don't know how to find the part number for the Japanese bikes.

It might pay you to email Takashi san at Samurider.com and see whether he can answer the question for you.

Thanks for the detailed info. Yes I can see the foam looks slightly different in height but I’m sure that would be easy enough to alter as long as the pan is the same.

I’ve also been reading about the ‘14 dlx seat going on the 13’ US. Has any Aussie been ballsy enough to give it a try on our model?

Not that I’ve heard of, but I’ve no doubt it would fit. Do a bit of a search on the forum and I think you’ll find the 2017 seat fits too.

Houtman? Help, please.

Ooo nice! Will those extra brackets in the schematic level out the grab rails?

I am in the midst of exploring options as well and have been doing quite a bit of research on the Japanese blogs/forums. The low Australian seat is the same as the Japanese seats 2010-2011. From 2012 onward there was a new seat part number for Japan with the new e-cushion material. The seat height is the same but the seat is apparently more comfortable.

The DLX/EX models from 2014 will fit 2010-2013 standard models. The only thing being the grab rails may interfere ever so slightly but is mostly cosmetics.

Note if you are using a Honda genuine rear carrier/rack for the 2010-2013. Once you level out the grab rails you will need the dlx/ex version racks.

Yeah okay that’s what I was looking at. I’m definitely not stoked with the seat comfort but really like the look of the Luimoto cover. Contemplating ordering it and attempting to build up the foam a bit to get similar height at the US and hopefully some resultant comfort.

I can confirm that the 2017 OEM Honda seat will NOT fit on the USA 2013 ABS or the 2014 DLX , the frame seat rails on the 2017 are lower than on the 2013 and 2014. This probably would also apply to the 2014 standard. The best fitting seat for all the USA models is the Corbin seat. They just have the lip for going underneath the tank and the lip going into the lock at the rear, they do NOT have the two hooks in the middle but the seat is still very stable although they are quite a bit heavier. For me the Corbin seats are the best.
