GIVI luggage help - tod.branko_imp - 09-14-2021

As fortune would have it sometimes, I guy I know hit me up and asked me if I want a GIVI top box, and as I love freebies I said yes, and I went and picked it up. I have no experience with GIVI top boxes, I understand I need a plate to fit on a rack, and that's about it.

My question(s):

Any specific rack I should use for the CB?
Any specific rack I should use for a GIVI?

I have to say I never considered a top box, but also I don't mind it, especially this one is not too large or bulky (it's called Micro), so I'm willing to give it a shot. Any help and advice are welcome.

Thanks![Image: 21767fb8cd831cdef7d98a287773ee21.jpg]

I love my Givi top case. Very convenient, and once you have the mount on your bike, you can interchange any Givi box you'd like.

First, you'll need a Givi rack, part number SR1118
https://twistedthrottle.com/shop/luggage/luggage-racks-accessories/top-luggage-racks/givi-rear-luggage-rack-honda-cb1100-mounting-plate-sold-separately/

That case is either a Monolock or a Monokey. Monolock has two wide mounting tabs that protrude from the bottom front of the box. Monokey has two narrow slots under the front of the box. Depending on which you have, you'll need to add a mounting plate to attach to your rack. Then, you can just snap the box on and off, and get a newer box if your needs call for it.

Today, I rode with my V47, my larger box, as I plan to carry some large objects home from work.[/align]
Tod, I just flipped my V47 box upside down and snapped this pic. If the front bottom edge of your box has these two slots, you have a Monokey box, and you want an E251 mounting plate.

If not, you have a Monolock, and want a Z113C mounting plate. Hope this helps!

Thanks Gone, that's exactly what I needed to know [Image: 0e071632dfceff6186a034919fd6ffe1.png][Image: 0a2034d2b45880ac15f4b57d88f307b3.png][Image: 8f06f81993998b674a9b034c876ebfaa.png][Image: 5b7b22489a3effdcb2c1b19267641802.png]

My box is a Monolock, it's written on it, and I did just reconfirm by looking at the extensions on the front of the case. This rack's shape worries me a little because of my modified rear mudguard, my stoplight is higher up than the stock one, I will have to somehow figure that fitment out before I spend the cash. Do you think this is the only rack option for the CB that will take a GIVI?

Almost any rack will do the job, as the mounting plate has multiple options for attachment. But, the Givi rack sits up pretty high, especially compared to the stock Honda rack.

I measure about an inch and a half between the top of my stock taillight and the bottom of the rack.

Yes, thanks, I also just did a quick research and realized that a universal plate can be attached to basically any rack, and thank you for the pics and measurements, I'll compare to my bike and see how it lines up

Best is to use a Honda rack for CB1100, two different types:

https://www.samurider.com/?p=18457
This one, I have on my '14 DLX

https://www.samurider.com/?p=13395
My '14 standard is equipped with this one

For Givi monokey, you should buy an universal mounting kit like this:
https://www.amazon.ca/E251-Universal-Monokey-Topcase-Mounting/dp/B00FYOQB5A

Givi monolock universal mounting kit looks & is different:
https://fortnine.ca/en/givi-universal-monolock-plate-w-hardware-z113c2
I have monolock mounted on two different Honda racks and transfer my only Give box between them as needed.

Note: you can buy a universal Givi kit or rack from any supplier, as long as you buy the right ones.
The third and I believe the final option is as Gin60 said.

My '14 CB has the Honda Factory Luggage rack. I found that it was a little tricky getting the Givi plate mounted on the rack, but there was (at least) one configuration of the mounting bolts that ended up working. Having removable locking luggage on that bike has been really handy. Looks very un-sporty when attached IMHO, but then I don't look back there too often when riding :-)

Givi plates will mesh up with pretty well any good and crappy rack laid on the back of the CB1100. No over-thinking is required.

Can't imagine going anywhere long these days without a carrier and topbox.
