Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - danieljrmurray_imp - 09-13-2021 Hey y'all, new to the CB life. Threw down nearly 2400 miles I'm 2 months on the sweet 2013 I snagged from an old retired fella for $3800 (WHAT A STEAL, and it's ABS). I was riding on an unfamiliar road in the dark when it was super smokey here in Oregon and did a big doozy and wrecked the bike. It's luckily cosmetic damage. I need suggestions for a new instrument cluster, I do find the OEM one bulky and I'm sure it's expensive. Any quality after market suggestions? I will also need a new exhaust tip, I was thinking of the Arrow slip on as it looks OEM but is slimmer. I also like the bike quiet for my 5am commutes. It needs new side covers and a new right side peg and brake lever. The headlight housing and trim ring also took some damage. The bars got bent and so did the center stand. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I thank my lucky stars my tank only got the tiniest clear coat knick considering the bike slammed me to the ground at 30+mph and slid 30ft or so. All in all, I walked away with a minor concussion and some bruises, mostly to my ego. I'm still waiting to hear back from insurance about whether or not they are going to total it but I'm anticipating the worst case scenario. But you best believe this is the most brilliant bike I've ridden and I'll for sure be fixing it up even if they total it because there's no way I'm finding one for that price again. RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - Lord Popgun - 09-13-2021 Due to the way information travels between the meters and the ECU (especially with ABS) OEM meter replacement is the only viable option. YMMV but others have had a nightmares getting other meters to work and then don't them to work correctly. RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - danieljrmurray_imp - 09-14-2021 Thanks for all the responses so far. Also, that's about what I expected for that OEM guage cluster. Jesus cuss. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one on fleabay. Does anyone know if a later model gauge cluster will work? I know that's probably a no since they changed the fuel gauge and added a 6th gear on the 2014+. Does anyone know if a later model gauge cluster will work? RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - Lord Popgun - 09-14-2021 After 2014 meters will not work on the 2013. For 2014 and up there is a bi-directional serial data buss for Meter/ECU communication. The 2013 does not have that. Plus what you said about the gear readout etc. RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - teamvisegrip_imp - 09-14-2021 I have a complete 2014 exhaust system for sale $600 plus shipping. The system has just 2 miles on it so it is basically new. PM me if interested. Could be a cheap way to go. It will make it look stock too. RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - Whoops - 09-14-2021 You have had that on eBay for a while now and I have had my finger come so close to hitting the buy button so many times now. ![]() All I needed was the exhaust pipe though which was what kept me from buying the whole assembly. Every time I tried to snag just the exhaust here on the forum the seller vanished. But yes, that is a super clean exhaust and looks brand spankin' new. Would be an incredibly inexpensive way to go rather than the dealer! RE: Wrecked my CB, need OEM or Aftermarket replacement suggestions - teamvisegrip_imp - 09-14-2021 If we do it outside of eBay $500 and shipping and it is yours?
