Idle screw? - Jayimpalaman_imp - 06-07-2013 The owner's manual says 1,000 plus or - 100 rpm. My Cb1100 is running a little too high. I know that motor must be warm. I think the screw can be seen from the right side of bike. Brake side. Am I right? If anyone knows, please let me know something. It has been a while since I had a in-line four! Thanks folks, God Bless... Jayimpalaman The service manual says the idle speed must be checked when warm with a tach that will read a50rpm change accurately. Idle speed should be 1100 +-100 rpm. If not correct, check throttle operation and freeplay Intake air leak or engine top end problem IACV operation thats if no DTC and MIL blinking and some other system are good. It says that The system eliminates the need for manual idle speed adjustment compared to previous designs. Edit to add: I'm sure you understand this is a fuel injected computer controlled engine. There is no idle speed adjustment like on a carb'd engine. My cruiser is efi and has a warm idle adjustment set screw. RE: Idle screw? - Lord Popgun - 06-08-2013 I didn't see one in the service manual procedures, but I'll look in more detail later. I can't find one on this bike (and there's no mention in the Owner's Manual), but I've owned plenty of fuel-injected bikes that had idle adjustment knobs. Ok, I learn something new every day no matter how hard I try not to ![]() I looked on the bike and I think the screw he is talking about is in the middle of the throttle body assm. It has a spring on it. It is shown in the manual on page 5-52. There is no mention of adjusting it anywhere. In fact the manual says not to mess with any of the white painted screws, nuts or bolts or throttle valve synchronization may fail (The common systems manual says re-adjustment may not be possible). That screw is visible from the right side of the bike looking up at the bottom of the body. Using an inspection mirror, mine has white paint on it. I would guess it is used by the factory to set up the throttle sync. and I would suggest not messing with it. It warms up at 1500 rpm and then settles down after the motor is warm. I was just used to a Victory motor and they idle around 900 to 1,000 rpm. I just love my CB1100!!! Thanks again..... Jayimpalaman RE: Idle screw? - Lord Popgun - 06-09-2013 Yeah, mine idles a little high when its cold. Heck, so does my car! The computer takes care of all that. If you have any concerns though, I would suggest talking to the dealer as the bikes are under warrenty and you don't want to mess that up by screwing with the machine. RE: Idle screw? - Jayimpalaman_imp - 06-09-2013 Yes, I could have been over excited to turn on a nut or something! I will adjust my handlebars (again) Thanks again Popgun.
