Engine Noise/Pinging? - Jamil Torres_imp - 03-31-2016

So I have ridden about 2300 miles on the cb and it seems to have developed a pinging at idle that was not there after the first service. I noticed that it does not come along until the engine is warm or I ride on a warmer day. Sometimes I can get it to come around by accelerating pretty hard and shifting at around 4k rpm. Is this normal?

You are probably just noticing the fuel injectors making noise

It's not impossible, but it's challenging to make an engine ping at no-load idle. Try holding a long screwdriver or socket extension to your ear while touching it to various parts of the engine, i.e., the fuel injectors.

I'll do that and see if I can pinpoint it. I tend to worry a lot because the 1100 is my only running vehicle for the moment. Thanks for the replies.

You will (or at least I do) notice slightly more valve-train noise at idle as your oil shears and thins out after some use, but I would probably agree with others that it's probably just the injectors you're hearing.
