Torque specs for handle bar clamp to triple clamp - itstuantran_imp - 07-11-2019

Need torque specs for lower handle bar clamp, which mounts to the upper triple clamp. Thanks a lot

From the 2013 Service Manual: The four bolts in the top of the mount are tightened to 15 Ft lb (front ones first). For the 'handlebar lower bolts' it says to tighten securely.

What size are they and I can probably find the general torque specs.

There is no spec listed. In the 13 manual page 12-10 it says to tighten the handlebar lower holder nuts securely.

I’m not sure the general torque table would work here due to the rubber mounting.

Be careful.
The nut is actually tightening against metal tube inside the rubber mount, that means:
1. you can not tighten the rubber mounts tighter as they are Smile
2. it's quite easy to over-tight and tear off the bolt or thread (believe me Wink)
And finally -- there are self-locking nuts, so better a bit too loose than too tight.
