2013 Clutch issue. - Frulk_imp - 04-09-2025 Had to make a run to the local dump to drop off two old fridges. Used the low boy Kendon trailer for that. Came back home and sun is shining. Mid 60’s and a cloudless sky. Decided to take the 2013 Tim Duncan Tribute Edition (#0021) out for its first jaunt this year. Unplugged trickle charger, removed dust cover. Pushed the Road King out of the way and wheeled the CB out onto the driveway. Fired right up on 1st key turn and purred satisfyingly for a minute. Got on it, engaged clutch and popped it in gear and bike lurched forward. Luckily I had the front brake on or otherwise I would have gone straight into the King. Tried it a couple more times after pumping clutch lever but same issue. Clutch lever feels mushy/spongy. Reservoir is full but noted one tiny air bubble in glass. Since I already had trailer hooked up I opted to push the bike on and trailered it to local Honda dealer where I bought the bike. I’m guessing clutch needs to be bled and fluid replaced. Checked all fittings. Nothing loose or seeping. No fluid on garage floor. Only the second unscheduled routine maintenance trip to the dealer. The other being need to replace fork seals. Not bad for a 12 year old bike. RE: 2013 Clutch issue. - Cormanus - 04-09-2025 A similar thing happened to my clutch after I'd changed the fluids and cleaned it all up. One of the rubber seals in the master cylinder was less than perfect. I rebuilt it and all was well. RE: 2013 Clutch issue. - misterprofessionality - 04-09-2025 I had this exact sort of issue not too long ago and thoroughly bled all the fluid out of the clutch lines until I couldn't see any more bubbles coming out and voila, clutch all fine again. In my case it happened because the fluid got too low and some air got sucked into the line. RE: 2013 Clutch issue. - Frulk_imp - 04-11-2025 Picked up CB1100 at dealer after they bled clutch lines and changed fluid. $116 with a 22 hour turn around. The 2013 TDTE CB1100 is back home. RE: 2013 Clutch issue. - the Ferret - 04-11-2025 So this is the second time the clutch and brakes have been bled in 12 years? if $116 included clutch and brake fluid I'd say you got a deal. RE: 2013 Clutch issue. - Frulk_imp - 04-11-2025 No. Last time clutch and brake fluid was replaced was 2021. Bike doesn’t really get rode much. Have 4 bikes in rotation. They changed clutch fluid only for $116 I’m in the mists of doing a major garage/shed clean out. Will be done this weekend making runs to the dump. Once that’s done I’m doing machine maintenance. Trailering Guzzi to nearest dealer 220 miles away. Road King going to local shop for all fluids refreshed and new tires. Doing XR1200 oil change and brake bleed myself. Changing oil and plugs in an ATV and then hauling boat to dealership for some routine stuff. After all that doing brake fluid refresh in Honda CB1100 myself. Might have to eat Ramen for a few weeks.
