RE: Lube chain with chainsaw oil - Charlie Bravo_imp - 08-03-2020 I use an acid brush to apply 90wt gear oil sparingly to the rollers while on the center stand. It doesn't need to get inside the rings, right, that's what O and X ring chains are all about, internally lubed. Don't glop it on and it won't fling off. RE: Lube chain with chainsaw oil - okanovicsel_imp - 05-31-2022 thanks[url=https://toolsforpower.com/walmart-chainsaw-sales-reviews-discounted-prices-2022/]. RE: Lube chain with chainsaw oil - j3gq_imp - 05-31-2022 Looks to me as if chains and lube oil isn’t exactly an area where there is a chance that experimenting could do you much good. Compared to the “proper” oil ... - you could find inadequate oil, but when you “learn” (chain worn) it’s too late, - you could find cheaper oil, but how much money does that save per mile ? - you could find bigger containers, but what use if you travel far from home ? When you consider odds and ends, an oil that sticks a long time, and doesn’t end up in all sorts of places (wheels, hands, exhaust etc) is worth quite a bit of a higher price. The last quality oil I bought, I put on 700 miles ago - with quite some rain in between. The chain is still well lubed, and no oil seen or found in other places. The can seems to last at least 10x the action, brings down the price per “turn” to under 1$. If it’s that available in Kazach country that’s of course a whole ‘other issue. RE: Lube chain with chainsaw oil - GoldOxide_imp - 06-01-2022 Yikes? $1 per "turn"? Chainsaw oil also cleans as it lubes. Furthermore, my understanding is chainsaw oil (at least the stuff I acquire) is easy on the environment since it tends to spray everywhere in significant quantities. It is not clear to me how well chainsaw oil stands up to UV sunlight exposure and rain water on a motorcycle chain. |
