Alain, Having seen your bike in person, more than most CB1100s your bike is very clearly built and customized to RIDE. I'd be hard pressed to find a CB that looks more practical in its setup. That said, dents and dirt are perfectly in character for a bike like that. A dent like that says It's a work horse, and you work it. Nothing about that should damage your ego.
RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - peterbaron - 06-22-2023 I can certify that statement. Rode recently with Alain. No garage queen is Alain's coveted red CB1100. RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - Gone in 60 - 06-22-2023 I test my horns every now and then just to make sure they still work, but every time I contemplate putting louder horns on my bikes, I think about how little I use them. Horns are used so rarely where I ride that when you do hear one, you look around to see why. I will say that the Royal Enfield skimped in lots of areas, but made sure the bike had two large, loud horns. Perhaps the culture in India is more prone to honking. Back when 70s and 80s cars were prevalent in junk yards, I had a little cottage industry of pulling the four-horn setups out of Cadillacs and some higher-end Buicks. I believe the notes were A, C, D and F, and the sound was not so much like a train, but more like a cruise ship. I'd clean up the horns and build wiring harnesses with multiple relays to handle the power requirements, and sell the kits to my freinds. These are long gone, but I saved the last set and put them on Mrs. G's Honda. Last night, rolling through the neighborhood, we honked at our neighbors, who were out walking their dog. They looked everywhere but at the little Honda to see where the sound came from. RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - Nachodaddy - 06-22-2023 I would love to have horns that sound like the most blood-curdling scream from the worst horror movie you have ever seen. Nothing else would get anyone's attention around here. RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - Gone in 60 - 06-22-2023 Wilhelm Scream! RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - Cormanus - 06-22-2023 On the subject of horns ... the other day I came to a very confused intersection just over a rail line. I had to turn right across the main run of traffic which was turning left. It was not immediately clear who had right of way. I slowed — maybe even stopped — to figure it and was immediately blasted by an impatient fellow astern of me. Fair enough, I guess, but I wasn't going to get driven into for his convenience. When I was reviewing what happened, I realised his blasting me with his horn achieved two things: first it probably made him happy (or at least relieved some of his stress); and, secondly, it slowed me down further as I had to identify the source of the blast and what it might mean for me before proceeding. In the end, it cost him a couple of microseconds that he wouldn't have lost had he kept his cool. RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - GoldOxide_imp - 06-22-2023 ... the horn is one of those fewer things we as humans can control onto others without physically harming them. Sadly, almost everybody has access to one (i.e. not everyone should). Were they poorer prior to that? I don't know the answer to your question Tev but my standard horns on my 2019 UK RS model are also the loudest bike horns I've encountered. Just cruisin older posts … I don’t know about the earlier year CB1100s, but I’ll agree with Tev62 also. My2017 EX has the loudest OEM horns I’ve ever heard on a bike. Might be worth the ‘swap.’ sleeper/RajunCajun 2014DLX vs 2017 EX RE: Has anyone installed a louder horn? - peterbaron - 01-05-2024 I already have a 2017 horn kit on my DLX. ![]()
