physiolee, Orange County Honda just quoted me $522 labor + $60 for parts for the 8,000 mile service, which includes the oil and filter change, valve adjustment, spark plugs, chain clean/lube/adjustment, etc.

I've rebuilt '70s SOHC's and DOHC's. My recent foray into CB1100 accessorizing has left me with the opinion that I have no desire to mess with all of that clutter above and around the valve cover again. unless i absolutely have to.

I think he expressed my feelings exactly with this statement: "..this definitely isn't a full on beginner's job, but it's also not massively difficult; it is more just formulaic, tight, and somewhat tedious."

I'm at 7580mi and I'm going to just stick with the easily accessible stuff and drive-train work. No valve check until 12000.
