That bike was a powerhouse.Indeed it was! I have a video taken by a friend riding in a Guzzi sidecar rig. What a great howl that engine emitted as I passed them. Think I'll go pop that in now! The K12 was a totally different machine than my first couple of K100s. For years the Germans honored a pledge to build nothing with greater than 100hp. The factory rated the K1200 RS at 130hp. She was heavy, but she'd run! RE: Maybe the perfect bike for this time in my life - LongRanger_imp - 10-14-2019 Yep, heavy (about 600 lbs.) but not much heavier than my DLX. Still, an awesome machine. I once saw an indicated 155 mph on mine (but just once!). Those speeds were nerve-wracking for this amateur enthusiast. But at 100 mph, the K12 was electric smooth, stable, and surreal. |
