RE: CB cuts out while riding - Lord Popgun - 07-26-2016 Aren't our US bikes all 50 state bikes? Have to check my sticker again when I get home. RE: CB cuts out while riding - redbirds_imp - 07-26-2016 I think California bikes are different. Mine has no evaporative recovery system far as I know. RE: CB cuts out while riding - BayAreaRick_imp - 07-26-2016 ^^^ Bike I just bought - one-owner from New York, is a 50 state bike, with a California Emissions certification on it. RE: CB cuts out while riding - Frulk_imp - 07-26-2016 Rode to work this AM in cooler temps with no problems. Bike ran fine! I really did fill it about as full as you could get it then the metal tank sat in a hot sun for several hours in the low 90s. Won't be doing that again. RE: CB cuts out while riding - Lord Popgun - 07-26-2016 BayArea and Redbirds, I'm pretty sure they all have the evaporative recovery system (US at least). Have to do some looking in the service manual and at my bike. Frulk, glad to hear you bike is ok now! RE: CB cuts out while riding - mattmcuomo@yahoo.com - 07-26-2016 I usually only fill to the bottom of filter neck but I have over filled, Heck, I once filled it to the very top, (by accident) I never had a problem..... I also gave up on 91 octane, 87 does just fine. Sent from me...... I know for some time a number of bikes were made 50-state because so many were sold in California. Which ones they may be, I can't say. RE: CB cuts out while riding - Lord Popgun - 07-26-2016 Redbirds, go to the right side of your bike. Right under the plastic air box cover is a bracket. Look under that bracket and you will see the canister behind the bracket. Kinda looks like a longesh oil filter. Looks like it would be easy to eliminate along with the air injection (pair valves). RE: CB cuts out while riding - Frulk_imp - 07-26-2016 Ok, last post from me on this issue. Rode back from work today with bike sitting all day under a blazing sun at 4,600 feet altitude and temps as high as 98 degrees. Started up fine. No sputter/hesitation. Didn't cut out/die. Ran like a champ all the way home for approx. 10 miles. Lesson learned. In HOT or even warm weather do not fill tank totally full on the center-stand. |
