Thanks PD, I'd love to take you up on that but finding a brushed aluminum one might prove difficult at best. I think I'll take it to a welder and see what they can do. For me it's vibration which has caused metal fatige, so you need to increase the stifness: Some stiffeners on the back would help a lot (draft concept attached )
