I'm surprised nobody has said the R9T. That was the bike I wanted to buy, but because none were available I ended up buying the CB after testing a number of other bikes. So it would still be the R9T, or perhaps the new Thruxton (but I still need to try it).

Probably the FZ09. I wasn't married to the retro bike, but the CB struck a chord. So much so that I am willing to tolerate and spending lots of money to improve less than ideal ergos. I also know that other bikes would offer better performance, but the CB just does it for me.

I may not even have bought a bike. I wasn't even looking for a bike at the time, the thought of getting one was a back burner thing. But sitting around bored one day I started checking out what was available these days. First site I checked was Honda, and had to do a few double takes, I could not believe what I was seeing. SOMEONE FINALLY CAME OUT WITH A BASIC MOTORCYCLE!!!! Right then I decided I'm gettin' me one of these. So after a few months of research and running across this site I am the proud owner of a '14 standard. I did start checking out other stuff in case I couldn't get a CB11 and got to thinking a CB1000R might be big fun. I understand it's a great bike but I'm still on the fence with it style wise. If the Ducati Scrambler had been out I may well have been peeling out from the dealer on one of them. I still want a Ducati Scrambler as a second bike but that's not in the cards right now. It's interesting how many others on this board have expressed an interest in the Scrambler.

Probably a used R1200GS because I can't afford a new one. I rented a 2011 while in Texas a few years back and loved it.

what other bike or bikes would be on your radar for buying?
Funny things about this issue, for me at least it is. That is because I had constructed a list of what I thought I wanted in my first and only bike in 34 years. The CB1100 met only about half of my 'requirements'. Oh me what did I really know. I find myself in awe of the engineers and designers at Honda. Yep I know it is a tad simplistic, but I really like this machine.
If I was to purchase a second bike it would be either a new 2016 CB1100 or possibly at BMW 1200RT. Of course Honda could announce something new and change all that.
