As you have decided to replace the rear I would go ahead and change the front too. Not that I would be worried about a 7 year old tyre, it is more the mismatch of feel from front to rear with a different design and more supple rubber. I was so delighted with the way my EX ran with new Bridgestone T31's, it would be a shame if you didn't get the full benefit from a really well sorted pair of new tyres.

Just replace both tires and you will have piece of mind when riding .

Good old Murphy and his laws.. Bit me a few times on my 13 Standard. Replaced the original rear tire only a couple months into ownership from new , big gash across it from road debris. Three sets later and about 24000 mile , the T31 Series is very good choice for the 1100 .

I got a small nail in my tire after less than 100 miles. In my opinion, this was repairable, but two different shops I contacted said they do not repair motorcycle tires. I have put my own repair plugs in motorcycle tires before, but only used them temporarily before replacing the tire. Has anyone experience with a shop that will repair a motorcycle tire?

My dealer won't plug a tire either. Told me it's due to liability.

Yeah, the liability of plugging motorcycle tires has been around for many decades. I can't count how many I've plugged myself and rode the tire to the end of its useful service life. The only exception was a sidewall gash.

I've found the bigger the shop, the less likely they are to do it. Pretty much true of car tires too. Smaller independent shops are more likely to do it.
