For a second, I was thinking that you were talking about rules of behavior. Then I realized you simply meant standards as in motorcycles and the CB1100 in particular.
By the way, for the OP, the battery terminal suggestion is a good one. Also, did you check to verify that the sidestand switch functionality was disabled when disconnecting?

In my dirt riding days, those gol darned side stand switches got disabled in a hurry.
The way you described your symptoms, that would be the first place I would look.

Wouldn't disconnecting the site stand switch, which was mentioned in the first post, be the same as disabling it? Or is there more to it?

Thanks for all the suggestions.......it is still under warranty so it off to the shop next Wednesday. Just wondered if anyone had experienced the same problem. I've been riding for 55 years so I've checked all the obvious causes!

Closed means it makes contact. Continuity. VOM used for this.

oh you got to be kidding me. why not just take the bike in and have em run a ct scan, er, that is, a ecu scan. also clutch switch could be the cause also dont this bike have a tipover cutout maybe thats it guess i been hanging around Breck too much and drinking about a gallon of beer

Wait, no tip over switch? I just assumed. My Shadow RS was recalled for a faulty one that did this exact same thing. Guess I learned sumthin.

Does it do it at any big bump? Or just the same train track? We had a car back in the. 80, s that a woman said everytime she drove across the same train track her car would die then crank rite back up! We thought she was crazy ! Lol. We drove her car to that train track and yes it would go dead!! The ECM was picking up a signal from the train track control box that controlled the arms that drop down. We wrapped her ECM with aluminum foil and it fixed it. Weird but true. If it happens over any big bump it's the kickstand switch or weak spring. Put on center stand put in first gear and just wiggle the side stand by hand if it dies you know it's weak spring or bad switch. Let us know
