I've tried two different bars and gone back to the OEMs. Like several other things, they got it right the first time on this bike.

I am the opposite. While I wouldn't go clubman, I find the CB500 bar swap (in the modifications thread) to be just perfect. The look is FAR better than stock, to me, but I lean toward the cafe look. I look at my old vs new photos and you couldn't pay me to go back to stock now. Extra cool is the fact that with the bars being a Honda part, the paint on them is EXACTLY the same as is already on the engine.

I really like the handlebar from stock and the riding position at the CB1100 as it is. It just fits very well to me, your mileage may vary.

Once I had a CB500T for a couple of years, when I was a student. The position and handlebar reminds me a lot to this model:
