Something worse than insects lurking under my white 2013 gas tank - took it off in 2016 to spray black and it was covered in rust - a lot of rust and flaking paint - haven't checked it since the respray but must have a look this summer - my bike lives outside and always has a quality cover on it.

Hey John: Ensure that the cover membrane can "breathe". That is, allow any trapped moisture, condensation from the last cold air ride, etc. escape.
