Bike surging at speed - dsan1964_imp - 06-24-2020
Hello C Bers it been a while since I have posted. Been getting my rides in regularly. I have noticed now that on freeway 75 to 80. Holding steady. It has been stumbling , I wanted to think it was gusty winds. Any chance someone else has experienced the same. I have already been down with the idle problems it hasn’t happened in years now. My only cure has been ride it harder... lol. Thank you hope all are safe and well !!

So not an idle issue but surging at 75 to 80 miles an hour? Moderators may move this to a new thread..
How many miles on the clock?
Condition of spark plugs?
Condition of battery cables and ground.
Fuel recently purchased?
Confirm that it does not stumble hesitate or otherwise misbehave when the throttle is cranked open further?

New fuel
Battery full charge good cables
Spark plugs original
No stumbling when accelerating
Only at constant speed and intermittent

Depending on the severity and how it manifests itself could be hesitating around 3000 rpm because of the oxigen sensor leaning out the mixture, ( on off on off etc. ) that would feel like a slight stumble with irregular timing as if you move the throttle.
Initially i did not notice it but over time it started to annoy me, gets more noticeable at lower gearing.
solution; oxigen sensor eliminator, i finally installed my 330 ohm resistor and it is smooth now
Possibly have a look if any codes have been set with the mil light.
Could get more complicated from there on.

The service manual specifies changing the spark plugs every 8,000 miles. If your originals are still installed, they could be going bad.

I have a new set of plugs sitting on work bench... I will throw them in, tighten ground terminal, fuel treatment... and hope for the best. Thank you all

Hey I said Stabil above, but I meant Seafoam. Pour about 5 ounces of Seafoam into a fresh full tank of gas and run it through.
