I've only ridden here for the last four years and frankly, it has not been all that much. Not like I used but back then I didn't have a wife, house or pets. Can't put my finger on why but those three are a huge time sink.
So I guess I get to look forward to more bugs (well, I do clean some off, but not like in Minnesota where the water bugs are the size of small bats). Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to increase my fork inspections now to see if I can't prevent some fork seal loss.

Rboe, I been living here 14 years and have replaced a lot of fork seals, don't know if bugs are doing it or just wear, I'm always cleaning bugs of the front ends of my bikes, sure glad scorpions and tarantulas don't fly.

Thinking about picking this fairing up for my 2013 CB1100. I'm hesitant about getting it because of the price, but can anyone confirm that this would fit the CB if installed correctly?

specialist..a couple members are running the Plexifairing 2. I think there was a clearance issue with the turn signals on the longer lower legs of the 3.

Yup. I tried this a little over a year ago with the Plexi 3 from my CB750. Nat. Cycle already told me it wasn't recommended, but I wanted to see for myself. Details here :

Bottom line : Not a good fit. The extended lowers hit the front turn signals and no adjustment that I tried could fix that. I ended up getting a Plexi 2 for the CB1100 and I've been quite happy with it. It's roughly the same size as the 3, but without the lowers. Fits great!
Thanks Flynrider. That saves me a bunch of headache as I live in Chicago and definitely need a fairing for half of the riding season here. I really wish the P3 could've worked though as those lowers would really have come in handy.
I had something very similar on my 1981 Kawasaki 550Ltd. Gas mileage took a big hit. After a crash that took it out I installed a Vetter Quicksilver. Gas mileage took a nice leap forward.
Now that summer is approaching (in southern AZ) I'm less concerned about the protection the larger windscreens provide. But I do miss the fairing options we had back in the day as I prefer the frame mounted ones to the handle bar units.

Funny you should mention that. Over the past few road trips, I've noticed that the Plexi 2 gives me about 2 mpg less at highway speeds than riding naked. Conversely, the little Deflector DX I use in the summer actually adds a couple of mpgs.
I used to have a Quicksilver on my KZ400 and a Windjammer on my KZ750. Loved those frame mounted Vetter products. The only quirk was that your headlight didn't turn with the bars. Kind of disconcerting when maneuvering in a dark parking lot
Be glad you had frame mounted fairings. I had two bikes that had handlebar mounted fairings- a Harley and a BMW. The low speed handling was terrible. Better to wish the headlight was aimed better than to be standing next to the bike wondering how you're going to pick it up!
