So the temperature is in the low 20s here today in Northern VA with 2+ inches of fresh snow on the ground and streets. Not going to be riding the CB for a while. What better time to work on my new Arrow exhaust system and remove the baffle.

In a previous post, I did a short review of the Arrow slip on muffler I purchased for my CB and installed over the X-Mas holiday. The muffler comes approved for street use and has a built in baffle that can be removed. Holding the baffle in place is a small metal tab that is tac welded in place on the outer edge of the muffler end cap as well as a metal snap ring. The bike with the baffle sounds good, slightly louder than stock with a throatier sound.

To remove the baffle you must take a small cold chisel and hammer and carefully tap the edge of the welded metal tab near the baffle. The tab will simply snap off. This is a throw away piece and is not needed to put the baffle back in place. Next, take a pair or snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers and remove the metal snap ring around the outer circumference of the baffle. Then take a pair of needle nose pliers or vise grips and gently pull the baffle straight out the end of the muffler. This take a bit of patience but after some trial and error, I final got my baffle to slip out.

Below are a couple of videos of the exhaust with and without the baffle. I am very impressed with the build quality of the Arrow exhaust as well as the sound. I also like the fact that you can change the baffle configuration for quiet or loud running. The exhaust with the baffle removed is much louder than stock and really gives the bike a presence on the street. Once I can get the bike on the road, I will report back about the sound and performance of the bike at speed. Enjoy.

Sweet throaty sound w/o the baffle. Is there a baffle in the stock muffler that can be removed, anyone know?

Supercruz - Very nice! Arrow has a good reputation and your arrow exhaust looks great and sounds great. Arrow is popular with the Bonneville community. I priced a full 2 into 2 Arrow for my old Bonne but not an exhaust only. Less expensive than the $830 Staintune?

CB4ME - Yes, the Arrow muffler assembly is ~$580 retail but I think there are deals out there for a bit less. I was drawn to Arrow because my previous bike was a modified 2011 Bonneville SE. I was pleasantly surprise to see Arrow had a header and muffler assembly for the 2013 CB1100. I am surprised more CB owners have not discovered Arrow.

Wow, I thought the baffled muffler sounded good, then I watched the second video. Holy smokes. Crap, now I'm gonna go spend money. You suck. ;-)

Arrow Exhausts are well made pieces of metal! I have the arrow full exhuast on my street triple and they are fantastic. On the CB1100 I prefer the sweet sound of the Arrows without the baffle, Good buy Supercruz..

On a side note. What helmet are you wearing in youre avatar photo?

Nice bike! Which fairing is that? How is it working out for you? Planning a road trip this spring, and I am gonna need some sort of fairing, or perhaps that fly screen, can't remember the name.

Wish I could take credit for the avatar photo but it is not me. Guy really has the bike leaned over. Got the pic off the Net. I wear a full face Bell Vortex Grind in Red with smoked visor.

Fairing is a Chic Design Road Comet with smoked windshield. I purchased the fairing from Webike Japan. Very well made piece. Do a search for posts on Road Comet. There are a number of other members on this forum with these fairings. Fit and finish is excellent and they do a great job of cutting the wind on your chest at high speed. I know DART makes a flyscreen and that is a very good product as well. Had one on my Triumph Bonneville. A few have purchased the DART flyscreen on here as well.

I am also in NOVA, and I am getting ready to pull the trigger on an exhaust for my CB. Any chance we could meet up so I could hear that exhaust in person?
