I think I need some more help here. My Hepco Becker Alurack arrived today and I attempted to mount it on the bike. The instructions are pretty simple so I don't see what I could have done wrong but it doesn't appear to fit right. The package did include the correct part number so that's not the problem. When I put the brackets on the bike the front end of left side bracket sits about 3/4 inch away from the grab rail that it mounts to. On the right side, the bracket not only touches but is actually pushed up against the grab rail. I'm hesitant to tighten the screw on the right side for fear of damaging something. Anybody else run into this problem? Thanks for your help!

I've got the H&B Alurack on my '13 and I did not have that problem. It's hard to tell what's going on just from the photo. I'll have a look at mine when I get home from work tonight and see what's different.

Is it possible to have the one on the right backwards or both of them on the reverse sides?

OK, I just checked. Mine has about 1/4" of space between the rack and the grab rail on both sides.

Are you sure you didn't mix up the spacers? The long spacers go in the forward holes and the smaller spacers in the rear. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause your bar to be in contact with the grab rail (unless something is bent).

It's not possible. The pic he showed looks like the rack is in the proper general orientation, but for some reason that forward tube is touching the grab rail. I'm hoping it's as simple as having the forward and rear spacers switched. If there's not enough spacer between the rack and the rail, that could cause the rack to be too close to the rail.

remember today is the 13th, candy man could be whatching you, try it on the 14 & it will work.

Ferret - that was my first thought but there's really no way to put them on any other way.

Flynrider - no, the instructions were clear on which spacer went where. I even took it apart to make sure both of the long spacers were the same size. I tried adding a washer to the front spacer and that solved the contact problem but screws up the alignment where the rack mounts to the brackets. That alignment wasn't working before and adding the washer made it worse

Wayne - tried it again this morning and it still didn't work so I'm back to square one.

I called the dealer yesterday (Accessories International) and they told me to call the importer (Motomachines). I spoke to a gentleman there and sent him photos so I guess I'll hear from him early next week.

The drawings and photo in the assembly instruction make it look like the longitudinal (front to back) bars of the rack lie on top of, and parallel to the bars of the brackets. Is that correct? As you can see in the photos that isn't happening here. The elongated holes on both parts allowed me to get all four screws into the rack but they aren't all hanging straight down.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Are your CB1100 side panels pushed all the way in? The right side panel on my bike pops out by itself all the time.

I'm stumped. If your motorcycle isn't bent, it must be the rack. The installation is pretty straightforward and if you've got the long spacer on the forward bolt, there shouldn't be any way for the rack to be in contact with the grab rail.

You'll probably be talking to Ed over at Motomachines. I always order from them directly. He'll want to see pictures. Feel free to send him the pic I posted of how a good one is supposed to look. That should do the trick.

I recently worked with Ed on a special order H&B crash bar for my CB750. It was designed for the Euro version of the CB (and just happens to fit the U.S. version). He offered to get me one from Germany. When it arrived, it turned out to be a set for a Yamaha Seca(?!?). I sent pics of the bar (pointing out the wrong hole configuration) and included a surprise photo of my friend's CB750 with the correct Euro bars mounted. He immediately sent me a return label and got another one on the way from H&B. It showed up last week and is perfect.

Was thinking of getting this rack also but am now hesitant till the problem you have is resolved. Let us know here if and when the issue is rectified.

I'm having a similar problem with my Alurack. The right side touches the stock grabrail, and the left side is nowhere near it. I can't get the center/back piece to line up with the holes on the side brackets.

It's exactly like the photos in the first post.

The installation is so simple I can't imagine I'm installing it incorrectly. I have the long spacers in the front and the short spacers in the rear.

I've already had them send me another rack, the first one was clearly bent on the left bracket and didn't fit on the bike at all.

I think I'm going to send the whole thing back and get a refund. I just don't trust them to send me a third rack and have it fit properly. I wonder if they're sending me the 2014 spec rack by mistake?

Does anyone have any other ideas before I send this back?
