I've used the Kisan tailBlazer on a couple of motorcycles I've previously owned and really like the simplicity and effectiveness of it. In the past, I've noticed an immediate difference in how quickly cars behind me began to slow when I put on the brake and how much distance they left behind me at a stop. I'm definitely sold on the idea of a modulating brake light, whether from this company or another. I like the Kisan because I don't need to wire it in to the bike's electrical system. You simply replace the stock bulb with the tailBlazer unit and you're done.

I purchased mine on eBay for $62.95 with free shipping on Friday, June 5th and received it today. Not bad at all. Installation took just a couple minutes. Here's a short video showing it in action. Unlike some other modulating taillights, once it completes its cycle, it remains steady on unless and until you release and reapply the brake. I've never found that to be a big concern.

Our CB1100 is not listed on the Kisan fitment guide but looking at the bikes that are on there and examining the OEM bulb, I took a gamble and ordered model # 20W-D and it works perfectly.

This was the very first mod on my CB only because I was able to reuse the bulb from my last bike. I think my bulb is the 20W-S since it does not have that initial 2-second delay before it starts flashing. I bought it back in 2007 so I think the 20W-D is the newer version. It's one of the easiest and most useful mods, IMHO. It's a drop-in replacement for the existing bulb and can only help to increase our visibility.

I'm a big advocate of modulating headlights and brake lights.

I spoke to Kisan on the phone about this. Kisan used to sell the bulb without the delay, but Kisan now only offers the Canbus version with the 2 second delay. They wanted to "streamline" their product offerings, so they discontinued the non-Canbus version.

I did not want the 2-second delay in the flashing upon braking, so I did not buy the Canbus version of the bulb. Instead I bought a Kisan taillight modulator called the tailBlazer module - its a T50W. Only problem is it is not plug and play. I have to cut the wire and put the module inline - a one wire connection.

I haven't installed it yet - but I will soon.

Did you consider the LED upgrade? I wonder if it is worth $20 more?

On my previous bike I has to wire in a controller which was quite a bit of work.

FWIW, I talked to Heather today at Kisan and she told me that all of the newer 20W-D bulbs do not have the two second delay. That delay would have been a deal-killer for me.

I considered the LED upgrade for about two seconds then decided to save the extra $20. I just checked my brake light again and it definitely has a 2-second delay before it starts flashing. I certainly wouldn't mind if it immediately started flashing upon activation of the brake but the two seconds doesn't bother me. Yes, I know how far a car can travel in two seconds (well, I can figure it out with enough time, information and a calculator). I figure, in an emergency stopping situation, my brake light will be of little help to a car coming up behind me. In all other situations, I will begin to slow gradually and the modulation will occur in plenty of time to warn the cars behind me. Wishful thinking? Maybe.

I just tap my brake pedal at exactly 120 times per second when stopping or slowing down, and it looks just like a modulator and I saved a boatload of money.

If you can do that, why do you need ABS? At least if your modulator ever goes out, you are gold!
