I think my bulb is the 20W-S since it does not have that initial 2-second delay before it starts flashing. I bought it back in 2007 so I think the 20W-D is the newer version. It's one of the easiest and most useful mods, IMHO. It's a drop-in replacement for the existing bulb and can only help to increase our visibility.

I spoke to Kisan on the phone about this. Kisan used to sell the bulb without the delay, but Kisan now only offers the Canbus version with the 2 second delay. They wanted to "streamline" their product offerings, so they discontinued the non-Canbus version.

I did not want the 2-second delay in the flashing upon braking, so I did not buy the Canbus version of the bulb. Instead I bought a Kisan taillight modulator called the tailBlazer module - its a T50W. Only problem is it is not plug and play. I have to cut the wire and put the module inline - a one wire connection.

I haven't installed it yet - but I will soon.

FWIW, I talked to Heather today at Kisan and she told me that all of the newer 20W-D bulbs do not have the two second delay. That delay would have been a deal-killer for me.

I'm going to call them on Monday and see what the deal is. I wanted a bulb - plug and play - but the two second delay was a deal killer for me too. Kisan's website still shows the 20W-D has a two second delay:

"These units feature a 2-second delay which increases compatibility for newer bikes with CAN-bus computer systems or bulb monitoring."

If they have the bulb's without the 2 second delay, I may want to get one of those instead of installing the "module".

Now that I'm home I was able to check and I do have the 20W-D, obviously the older version without the delay. If the newest ones do not have the delay I guess that means they made some with it and then changed back to ones without??

While away I could only access Kisan's mobile website which lacked a lot of the details shown on their main site. I had forgotten what the -D and -S signified and remembered when I got home that we use the "dual" contact version on the CB not the "single" contact one.

I'm going to call them on Monday and I'll report back here what I find out.
I ordered my bulb last Friday and received it today. So three days shipping not counting the weekend. Not bad!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H8ACDIC

This install took less than five minutes and only required a 5mm allen wrench.

In the attached video you can see that there is no two second delay.

Dude, that is bad a$$. I've not been able to call, since Tropical Storm Bill has impacted my work schedule. I will phone Kisan soon though and see what they tell me . . .

Thanks for posting the video.
I like it!

Good to know. I definitely like that design better.

It's not like I'm going to stop checking my mirrors as I'm slowing down but I love the added layer of protection.
Sheesh. And now I'm stuck with a two second delay!
Picked up a Kisan 20W-D with an extra bulb off ebay yesterday. Curious to see which version I get--the one with a 2 second delay or one with instant on.
Ordered my 20W-D yesterday. Really like the added safety feature it provides with or without the delay.
