Has anyone used one of these for either your cell phone or GPS. Just bought it and installed but haven't tried it out yet except for inside the garage. No phone in holder because in using it for photo, lol. It's fully adjustable and high quality. Comes with a rubber cradle tether to hold it in better but it's very sturdy without it. I shook it around really hard while in my hand prior to install.

It will obstruct some of the view of the clocks but you can adjust it to move out of way or have it right in front of you. I really dont need to see the instruments all the time anyway, at least not the speedometer.
I used one like that on my ST1300. From Mississippi to Virginia Beach. No problem. I always use it on the ST as the speedometer is so far off. So it holds a GPS that I use mainly for speed.

I also put a Ram ball mount on the CB. It replaces one of the handlebar bolts in my case. I see you have a clamp on. Man, they have a LOT of options.
It can also be adjusted horizontal instead of vertically which would free up some view of the instruments as well. Many options. They make a shorter arm too. Ram mounts are the best.
Yea, I bought it as a whole package and it came with the clamp on which works well with our kind of bars. Many ootions. I also got a suction cup for the car windshield and a claw clamp for my Harley bars.
I have one on my GS and use it routinely with no issues. It held my iPhone 6 without any drama during my 4000 mile trip this past summer. I have friends who go off-roading with them as well but I worry too much about losing a $600 phone on a remote gravel road forever.
I used a long arm like that for my ride across the South, but ordered a much shorter one that I use now. I think I even have some stuff left over from a kit too.

The PO of my ST also installed a Helibar riser that besides the Ram ball mount, has a Powerlet outlet. Man, that is nice. I want one on the CB. Gotta get busy on that...

uscgmac, have a bit of a search. Others have reported on them—favorably I think. They look like a great universal mount to me.
Well, I didn't have as good of a user experience as many of you did. I replaced both of my ram x grips after seeing my Galaxy S5 fly out of it when I hit a pothole riding in Mexico. That was a costly mistake, b/c it cracked the screen, the rear camera stopped focusing, and i even had a quality protector over it too. I'm now very conscious of protecting my new S6 edge phone.

This is what I'm using now for my S6 w/ protector, and it's what I recommend over the X Grip, by far. Also made by Ram.

The hooked claws will positively prevent the phone from popping out.
I'm a big time cheapskate so I use this. It was a whopping $12 when I picked it up a couple years ago. Never had an issue in thousands of miles! I have one of my CB and one on my Harley - works perfect and was under $25 for both...can't beat it!

Oh, I see.... it uses a rubber band to secure it.
But that's a negative b/c I use my phone's GPS when riding, and that rubber band would interfere anytime I try to zoom in/out with my pinch strokes. Bummer, b/c the price is right!
