The CB1100 Community Forum

Just installed my MRA Vario Screen and thought I would give an initial report for those that my be considering one. In the interest of full disclosure I'm 5'9" and 165 lbs. I used the standard mounting brackets and they are JUST long enough.
With the spoiler in the highest position it provides significant reduction in wind blast on the torso and shoulders up to about 70 mph. My helmet is in relatively clean air, very little buffeting. Wind noise is still fairly loud, I wear a Shoei RF 1100 with earplugs.
To summarize, the MRA Vario is significantly better than no screen, but for longer trips a little better protection will be required. I'm thinking the MRA VNB that is mentioned in another thread may be the answer, but that will require another $200 or so

I'm back to using this model (MRA Vario Touring) after riding with the VNB for a couple of longish windy highway/interstate 70mph+ rides. The VNB is a little better than the Touring, but I was still getting more bugs on my helmet faceshield than I'd like. I'll be reviewing in that forum thread, and then selling the VNB only because it's almost new (less than 200 miles) and I hope to get a few more $ for it than the older, slightly scratched up Vario Touring. I really like both for riding around town and in the mountains, and both look great - not the standard inexpensive clear or solid tinted shields in the $50-150 range. Those Germans know how to engineer some cool stuff. Will continue in my quest for the 'best' touring windshield for the CB as I absolutely love it, even on the highway and interstate, but need to keep the bugs outta my teeth, eh?
