Hi guys, something is puzzling me. The only visual blemish that's bugging me on the '13 I just bought is a mark on one of the bar end weights where the P.O. bumped the bar on the edge of his garage.

I pulled off both of the factory end weights and repainted them. I didn't pay a heck of a lot of attention when I removed them, but putting them back on, they do not appear to go inside the handle bar, but rather they butt up against the bar. This gives a sizable gap between the weight and the grip (maybe 3/16") I didn't notice that gap before I pulled them off, but wasn't paying close attention.

Is a gap between the end weights and grips normal? Anyone available to check their '13 (or '14 as well if the bars are the same) and let me know if there should be a gap? The outside diameter of the weight is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the bar, clearly it's not designed to go inside unless I'm doing something wrong...

IIRC the end of the weight has a half moon shape that engages with the damper in the bar. Make sure it is oriented correctly.

As for the gap, I'll check mine after work.

I would suggest you use some blue Loc-tite on the screw. There have been reports of the weight departing the bike unexpectedly. The manual may say that too, I'll have to check.

PG: To clarify, you are saying the end weights are keyed?

GO, yeah, sorta. Not a tight fit or anything. I'll look at mine when I get home. I have a set for the ST that is the same on the end. Or just pull one off my CB. Just a screw IIRC the half moon is just to keep it from rotating.

Yes, that makes sense!

Yup, I noted the half-moon, sorta yin-yang way they go together, just seems weird that the front part of the weight necks down but not enough to fit inside the bar. I know the part that expands and locks it in place is inside the bar.

I measured mine and they are spaced away 3/16”. I’d say thats normal.

I can live with that.

I put an right sized O ring in the gaps to make it look better and still be able to turn the throttle freely , same on the clutch side .
