Recently bought two used HB top cases. Not a fan of the plastic headed keys that HB has and would like to replace them. Looked at several Ilco keys, none of which is a replacement. Moto Machines has HB keys but 1 key is ~ $25 shipped and is the large plastic head key. Anyone know of key blanks or a source for replacement keys?

Can you smash up the red plastic shroud and drill a nice hole into the key? Or is the "Hepco & Becker" logo portion of the key independent of the key blade?
I am wondering if the extra plastic shroud provides leverage on those tough days when the tumblers are feelin' extra resistive?

Thought about trying to grind, cut, or burn off the red plastic and drill a hole in the metal head. Searched to no avail for a key blank. Pain putting these types of keys on a key ring. Fortunately blanks are available for the big head CB1100 keys.

Used a Dremel to remove plastic shroud. Drilled a hole which also removed the HB logo. Not pretty but it's better.
... I see. The point of the plastic shroud is to save money on metal?
