Here is my story on the first oil change. Your results may vary. I got it good and hot and let it drain for 20-25 minutes. I put in 4 quarts and started it and let it run for a couple of minutes and then checked the window about 3-5 minutes later. My oil level was just below the top line in the window on the center stand. It will take another ounce or three but even by just putting in 4 quarts I am good to go and in spec according to the window.

Yep, you may find it even a bit higher after a ride. Don't add any more oil at this point until after a ride.

Thanks. I have not added any more oil yet so I will ride it some and then check it again. These first oil changes on a new motorcycle that you are not used to are always touch and go for a bit until you get a good feel for what they want.

You can never drain 100% of the oil out of any engine even if you let it drain for a month. Some just stays inside, that's normal. As was pointed out earlier, withholding 3-4 ounces on a refill will bring you perfectly to a proper fill amount. No worries about side stand, center stand, wiggle side to side, riding then checking again, etc. just withhold 4 ounces and you're perfect.

My experience also. As long as the oil level is well above the low mark you're good.

I just finished the 600 mile service with the DLX instructions and the Honda filter & wrench kit. It went great.

These are really easy bike to service except for those pesky valves. The shim under is a very good set up, but I would have much preferred self adjusting hydraulics like on the 650/700s/750 Nighthawk series.
