I'm curious how many CBs actually needed a valve adjustment at 8k.
Not mine.
Mine still didn't need it at 24,000 miles.
Nope. Mine was adjusted at 18,000.
I was told 14 of 16 valves were adjusted.
At 16k I think I'm going to go to the place that teaches you how to DIY.
It's been my experience after owning several Honda's (VFR700, VFR800, ST1100, ST1300, another VFR800, etc.) with bucket/shim style valve trains that they rarely need to have a shim replaced. I check mine at 20K intervals usually and have only pulled a cam one time to replace a shim, and even then it really did not need a new shim as it was just at one end of the tolerance. My ST1100 has 78K on it when I sold it and the valves never went out of spec form mile 1K.
I had my '13 checked at 16,000 mi this fall (Sept '14) and the dealer said that they were "right on".
