Hello.
As the end of the season approaches I'm looking to do my valves before storage.
Can anyone who has done this before confirm wheather it's possible or not to reuse our valve cover gasket. Time for a new one at the dealer here is a while and I'd prefer not to buy it if it's not really necessary.
I would replace, its a rubber gasket but mine got stretched when I removed my valve cover.
you can get on ebay for $20, cheap insurance IMO
Certainly wouldnt hurt to have one on hand if you plan on keeping the bike a while.
Just out of curiosity...why would it be so critical to replace it?
If it doesn't seat properly...it leaks. Probably not much; and since it's out in the open, not leaking into an enclosed dry space...no biggie.
If it leaks after re-use, replacing it is relatively easy. Biggest hassle is cleaning up after the period of leaking.

Yeah. This is my thinking as well.
I guess my only concern was that they are stuck on and have to be wrecked or it's a cheap POS (though not likely on a Honda) that breaks into three pieces from being heat hardened and then I'd be left with nothing till the dealer gets one in.
I'll probably just order one and wait. Canadian dealer price is ~$100.
