After some searching i was unable to find the interpretation of the yuasa date code.
Mine reads; 24041043
Best guess is 24 day/ 04 month / 2010 year batch no 43.
Has anyone got an idea if that is correct?
The number is stamped at the back and opposite the terminals, battery could be original ytz14s.
the bike is listed as 2010 so that could be possible, last time i tested it it still contained 5 Ahrs of capacity, which is about half of the new value, cant work it out, who's got an old battery to compare?

I am certain that that is the date code , I bought the bike in July 2014 .
Every 4 years I replace the batteries on my bikes with an JAPANESE made OEM Yuasa.
It says year month day on your link mi Lord, but it would appear to be maybe Month, day year or day month year in practice according to Houtman's date on his battery ?

I think it must be day , month, year and batch number.
There are no 24 months in a year (Max 's batterie )
Thanks for your help gentlemen, that is precisely what i was looking for.
They must have changed the datestamp order some time ago and that was the reason i could not make sense out of the new way it is used.
Up to a month ago this battery started the bike without hesitation, three days ago i started it for a 10 second quick run and today it was not able to start the engine and i had to jump start the bike with another battery which fired it up again.
After a 10 min ride it started the ( warm ) bike instantly after which i connected the discharger to it and from 12.8 v. down to 12.0 v. it measured 2.6 Ahrs, and would have kept going down until the 5 Ah were discharged but i stopped it and charged it back up.
So on the 24 th of this month it celebrates it's tenth birthday as a functioning battery in the same bike
New price for a replacement is $542 nz and a lithium motobatt equivalent ( mplx9u-hp ) is $250 nz. hmmm...

Wow! If I got 10 years with the same battery, I'd go with OEM again, but $542 NZ translates currently to $330 US, pretty high. US suggested retail is $188, and they are found online at Honda dealers as low as $144 US.
I also looked on eBay Australia and they have factory activated and charged OEM quality ones for as low as $261 US.
Is it the YTZ14S? They can be had for AU$222 (US$14).
Or maybe $140USD
