I don't recall anyone claiming that a 5-speed is superior to a 6-speed, nor that it was not inferior. My point has always been that I do not need it, and I speak for myself, no one else. The very small percentage of seat time spent in 6th gear, particularly if it's an overdrive, would not reap any great benefits for me.
A lot of the members of this forum traded in their '13s for the '14, for various reasons, many of them want the 6-speed, along with the other new features, particularly on the DLX. They are getting what they want and everybody's happy, nothing wrong with that.
Have you even ridden a CB1100? If you haven't, you should. You make statements regarding features and attributes of this bike that would probably be different with some seat time.

The staggered cams were designed by very competent engineers to give the bike the feel of the older CB's, what's the harm in that?
These engineers achieved their goals with this bike in nearly all aspects. Again, if you ride it, you understand.

The stock CB would smoke the stock Triumph and the stock W800, speed limiter and all.
I hope that the many Triumph owners here aren't offended by these statements, I am not out to bash their bikes, I'm simply pointing out some things the CB does better.
The CB unquestionably offers better performance, reliability, and finish. I was at the Cyclegear shop near my home one afternoon, I parked right next to a very pretty Bonneville, sort of a purple and white color. Side by side, the Honda's finish and quality clearly outclassed the Bonny, I don't hate Triumphs, that is simply the truth that you say you seek.
No one is ignoring the speed limiter, I knew all about the speed limiter when I purchased the bike, it was common knowledge to those whom did the slightest research. Honda certainly didn't keep it a secret. I saw a thread yesterday in which the discussion was about an outfit that can reflash the ECU to disable the speed limiter.
No one claimed the CB is a Ninja killer, that is the point. Several members of this forum strongly wish to go faster, and they will. I suspect that with some mods, the CB could be a respectable performance bike, once the secrets of the speed limiter are discovered. Meanwhile, they are no doubt enjoying their bikes despite the limiter.
You are nit-picking things about this bike that are not a big deal to people that own and enjoy them. I have never seen anyone make such a big deal over a 6th gear.
