Seems it's been updated. The current manual has nothing like that. Word.

Was not trying to start an oil thread (Lord help us), just stating that my bike runs smother on the heavier grade. Maybe useful info for those experiencing excessive vibration. The owners manual makes no mention of any other grade than 10W-30. Shell Rotella is a diesel grade oil that meets or exceeds all specs for Honda.
Forgive me brother, I think treating excessive vibration with heavier oil outside of the current owners manual specification is a bit like treating a gall stone with whole milk rather than low fat instead of taking yourself to the doctor or the bike in for service.

I think I'm being misunderstood here. I did not suggest that a heavier oil was a solution for excessive vibration. When I ran 10W-30 in my CB I did not believe it suffered from excessive vibration. After reading that 10W-40 was an acceptable alternative to 10W-30 in the factory service manual I switched to Shell Rotella because I have used it for years in my other bikes. After the switch I noticed that what little vibration there was had eased and an on going problem shifting to 5th gear was eliminated. The factory Honda service manual approves the use of 10W-40 otherwise I would not have switched.
