By the way, the Honda motorcycle division has a operating margin of 13.9%. I wonder how that compares with HD?

It's part of hydraulic hoist/cover, from garage where he used to work.

No. 9 / 8 / 7 are cool looking and will sell if the prices are right...I'd buy #8 for my city riding, but only if the dealership threw in a bandana to go with it.

If what that text implies (i.e. that HD management is betting the farm on in-vehicle recharged battery energy transfer from terrestrial infrastructure to the moving platform technology) I am here offering a wager of a bottle of Crown Royal Black to any taker that there will be no HD Motorcycle Company five years from now.

I have written on this before, so I'll repeat here only a single sentence summary: the only way a battery-powered vehicle will be more than an in-vougue novelty is the adoption of a short repertoire of industry-wide standard of replecable batteries, with the the battery-swap station network similar to our present energy-bearing liquid pumping station network.

If HD is successful partnering with Tesla and leveraging their "coast-to-coast" charging infrastructure, that is a plus for HD. In addition, charging wait time will be significantly shorter for the m/c vs. say a Tesla simply because of the smaller battery capacity.

If companies like HD can engineer their models to access the batteries easily, then battery swapping would indeed be more practical - especially compared to a car.

Even that said today, I still wouldn't want to get stranded off the beaten path (e.g. Interstate highways) because charge ran out. Off the beaten path is why most m/c enthusiasts ride.
