2 Bikes... 5 Cylinders

[road dog_imp]

I converted from Hondas in my youth to Triumphs in my old age, but only because I prefer the old school appeal. I love the Triumphs, but Honda is in my DNA. Now that Honda has a throw back bike I can't wait to get my hands on one. I decided I better post up my Triumphs while I can... not sure how much longer they'll be around.

Nice looking bikes. It'll be hard to say farewell to them if you have to.

That red and black bonnie is gorgeous!

Thanks, mate. If it happens it won't be my best day, but a new CB1100 would undoubtedly take the sting out of it.

That red and black bonnie is gorgeous!

Appreciate the compliment Mr. Ferret... they never ever get old.

I have a soft spot for Triumphs also. A Bonneville got me interested in bikes over 40 years ago. A Tiger 1050 Triple I had was one of my all time favorites and I regret having sold it. I'd keep them both.

The Bonnie is a great motorbike, and I'd have a tough time not having one in the stable. Yours is sweet. And the tBird has one of the great motors in cycling, the 885 cc triple. Nice!

BTW Road Dog, that first shot looks like one of the many beautiful rivers in the Texas Hill Country. My favorite place to ride. Could it be?

+1!!

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. The little Bonnie is a lot of fun to ride and can be a real conversation starter. I've crossed paths with several older gentleman that looked her over and proceeded to tell me about their Triumph back in the day... that's priceless.

Indeed, it is redbirds... good call. It's the Guadalupe River, a little downstream from the true Hill Country. The pic was shot in Gruene, probably less than a 1/4 mile from Gruene Hall, which is about a 20 min ride from my house. So have you spent some time in these here parts?

I have indeed. My wife and I enjoy birdwatching and made our first trip to the Hill Country in 2001. We spent nine days at Lost Maples and fell in love with the area. We knew we would have to come back next time with our bikes. In 2009 we towed our bikes to Kerrville, roomed at the Hampton Inn and rode the area every day for nearly two weeks. Our friend Dennis from Harlingen rode his bike to Kerrville and acted as our tour guide for a few of those days. Another friend, Dave whom I met on the Tiger 1050 Forum and lives in Boerne, also guided us on some wonderful scenic roads, including a ride to Lukenbach and a ride along the Guadalupe to Gruene where we had lunch at the Old Mill there. In 2011 we made another birdwatching trip and stayed in Boerne along with our friends from Maine, Kirk and Linda. We did enjoy one day of riding on this trip also. We rented bikes and were joined by Dennis and wife Barbara, and Dave once again acting as tour guide. I LOVE this area and anyone looking for a unique and beautiful place to vacation should give the Hill Country a try.

Kirk is a nature photographer and he put together a story with pics of this trip that can be seen at http://www.kiroastro.com/writings/gtt.html and it of course deals mostly with our birdwatching exploits but does have some motorcycle related stuff.

Sorry for the hijack.....

Nice pictures. My wife and I are birders as well and I do lots of nature photography. Here's a couple I took last Friday I think you might like (second one is a little out of focus but I love the ice droplets)

Very nice! Cardinals against ice and snow always make a good photo subject. Would love to see more of your photos sometime.
