Fork Boot Orientation
#1

I just got my OEM 2019 CB1100EX fork boots in from Mr. T. The boots have 2 molding seams running the length of the boot. One of those seams has an air escape hole at each accordion fold. Does anyone here own a 2019 CB1100EX, or if not has anyone seen one in the flesh to know what orientation Honda places the boots in, with regard to position of those vent holes?

If the vent holes are facing the rear, that means the opposite molding seam faces the front of the bike. I have tried zooming in on 2019 CB1100EX pictures, and it looks like the seam with no holes faces away from the bike on both sides, meaning that the seam with the vent holes faces inward toward the front fender on both sides. Can anyone confirm? I have borrowed Bazbro s excellent picture of his OEM fork boots and attached below. Zoom in on the picture to see the vent holes.

This shows better the holes that 2017 is referring to...

I hadn't even noticed these holes! The orientation must surely be towards the rear, away from prevailing winds pressure? That means that the plain seam would face forward.

That's an interesting point, 2017, that's gotta be answered before I get round to fitting mine! Smile

I would say rear as well because that would angle the holes down for drainage.

I think it's accepted practice to put the vent holes at the back of the fork leg.
That's how I've always fitted them, but it's up to the individual how they want to fit them.

My inclination was to put the holes to the rear, but I was hoping someone might know what stock orientation Honda decided to use. Maybe one of our overseas members can supply the answer?

Orient toward exhaust headers (toward rear).
