Hagon Shocks: Response to Inquiry
#1

I had asked Hagon if they had the right fitment for the CB1100 and their response is below. In the meantime I sold my CB1100 so if any of you are interested, you can contact Hagon directly:

Hi
We have not done a shock for this model yet.
I wouldn't have thought the Thruxton would be either sprung or damped heavy enough and bottom mount is definitely wrong, but this is purely assumption based on the geometry and physics of the two machines (taking into account the Thruxton though longer is also lighter damped and lighter sprung than all the other models)

If you could send us in your existing shock absorber we should be able to produce a replacement in two or three days' time.
Cost dependant of style and type of course.(if you see our web site for CB1300 for example, choice will be the same)

Would you happen to have a link?

Edit: Nevermind, found them easily https://www.ebay.com/itm/143736471858?ha...SwphhfX0Iq

But I fail to see how they are different (or even better) than OEM shock absorbers.

Agree, these might be a useful cheap replacement if your OEM shocks were well past it but I fail to see much else of value in them.

I would rather spend on decent shocks and improve the ride. If I had clapped out OEM shocks on my CB I would swap them out for some German Wilbers 640 TS Road, not cheap at €1099 (for the pair, including huge sales tax here), but they will be custom sprung and damped to your weight and riding style and come with a five year warranty. Adjustable rebound too. I have a Wilbers Monoshock on my old Daytona 1200 and it has utterly transformed the bike from what was an admittedly shagged out 25 year old OEM monstrosity.

I can't say for sure, but I reckon it passes to the elected government which ...

Given the strict rule against any sort of political comment on this forum, I will take that thought no further!

Never have used them, but are they really that bad? I placed Progressive shocks on the 2003 Speedmaster I have shown here on the Forum back when I had it, and they totally outclassed the Triumph shocks that were stiff and slow to rebound.
Put a pair on the 82' GS1100 I am also working on right now because the stock OEM were rusted ugly. Have yet to ride it at speed, but when done, I will chime in. After the DLX is finished of course

Cormanus is correct of course but having said that the Queen is from German stock so she would be happy me giving my money to the Germans. The family name came the German House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Queen Victoria was the last monarch of the Royal House of Hanover. She was married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, with whom she had nine children.

The first World War unsurprisingly made the Royal Family name a little uncomfortable for them and they changed the name to Windsor in 1917, much more palatable for a population who were well po'd at the Germans at the time!
