I visited my brother in LA several weeks ago now and unfortunately the big C has affected him too much to ride. He gave up riding his K1600GT a while back now and survived on two wheels with a smashing little Honda 750 Shadow. Now two wheels and four are too dodgy for him on the meds and has recently stopped driving for the safety of others.
To that end he is selling his beloved BMW K1600GT seen here, it's got decent mileage on it, but as he says, that's when you know you have a good one! As this is a USA centric forum, I thought I might just mention it here on the off chance someone was interested. I know this is very random and a very long shot.
The bike would have been sympathetically treated; Pat is an ex-London Policeman who spent many years on Police bikes but has lived in LA for more than three decades. 2012 80k miles, current service at Burbank BMW, new tires and brakes top box included (not shown). There is seven of us kids in the family, I'm number seven and Pat is number six. He is three years older than me at 63. The long haul is a bit of an unknown, 6 months, 12 or 18, they don't really know. They just switched his meds to palliative a couple of weeks back. That sounds worse than it is, it really just means the treatments have not worked at ridding him of it and they are going to make him comfortable. He has always been insured up to the eyeballs and he has had all the usual treatments plus a bunch of leading-edge immune system treatments all to no avail. Had he not had the insurance I think he would have been long gone. The treatments have devastated a man who was once a fit and active outdoor guy (unlike me) and he looks like a prison camp survivor, terrible to see. I am not a particularly religious person, but I do often thank someone "up above" when I'm out on the bike enjoying the freedom that two wheels gives you.

63 is young. Fingers crossed that the medication delivers comfort at least.

Yea 63 is so young. One of my good hunting buddies that I bow hunted with for 25 years succumbed to C. I visited him every week while he was in hospice. It was really hard to see him go down.
Best of luck to your brother and I hope he finds some way to get some enjoyment out of the time he has left.

Tev, I wish I had some words to comfort you, but each of us must face this in our own way both in our own lives and the lives of those we love. I do wish you and your brother long and fulfilling life.
I sold a K1300GT a year ago and it was a BEAST! I can't imagine riding a 1600. It was the most beautiful and responsive bike I have ever swung a leg over and I loved it, but at 81 years, I felt I was pushing my luck, so I passed it on to a younger, probably more responsible rider.
