I recently had a bad experience with battery terminal corrosion with my car (dealer obviously didn't check them during the scheduled maintenance in spite of paperwork to the contrary). Regardless, it got me thinking about my CB. I know car batteries and motorcycle batteries are somewhat different animals, but I'm sure mc batteries still require some attention. I couldn't find anything in the service book in reference to battery terminal care so my question is; how do you care for yours? Do you use terminal protectant at all? Is it needed with mc batteries? If so, what brand or kind of protectant or cleaner do you use? Thanks in advance you guys are awesome!

For the most part I haven't had any leakage with smallish batteries. I do have a can of 'battery terminal care' made for aircraft use. I have dabbed a bit on several auto battery terminals. It has the consistency of runny grease, dabbed on with a brush.
I think a little would do great to prevent any terminal corrosion. I would use it sparingly to not make a mess. Just an idea, I got it from the 'Aircraft Spruce' company.

I have never had corrosion on my bikes terminals, I do not use it. I do use Permatex protectant sealer on all Heavy Equipment that's out in the elements. It use to be an issue years ago I just don't see corrosion anymore.

Good to hear nobody has had any problems so far. Hopefully it is a non-issue.

Well they are AGM batteries. Not the problem that the old lead acid cells were.

Never had a problem but out of habit I guess a bit of No-ox battery terminal grease has been applied.

I have been using waxed based chain lube after assembly for years. spray it on the post and cable/wire leeds after assembly let it dry. it's clear, non greasy. easy to remove with contact cleaner, solvent etc.

Terminal corrosion is most commonly found on lead acid car batteries because they're not externally vented. Acids tend to collect around the top of the battery and when it contacts the terminals, corrosion happens.
Bike batteries have an external vent which connects to a vent tube, that runs to the bottom of the bike. Since gasses and acids get vented away from the terminals, corrosion is usually not a problem.
I usually use some dielectric grease on car battery terminals, but I don't bother on the bikes. It's never been a problem.
Note : I replaced the AGM in my CB11 with a lithium-ion battery which should make this a real non-issue
