my cb is a cb1100 SA year 2014, from the workshop manual it says:
FORK FLUID CAPACITY:
CB1100 / A:
495 ± 2.5 cm3
(16.7 ± 0.08 US oz, 17.4 ± 0.09 Imp oz)
CB1100SA right fork
506 ± 2.5 cm3
(17.1 ± 0.08 US oz, 17.8 ± 0.09 Imp oz)
CB1100SA left fork:
434 ± 2.5 cm3
(14.7 ± 0.08 US oz, 15.3 ± 0.09 Imp oz)
why two different sizes?

I believe its because one side is for compression and the other for rebound and the internals are not the same.

Yea- it is not uncommon for bikes to use different tuning in each fork- allows them great control.

Somewhere on the forum there is an extensive discussion of the different fork sizes. It might be worth a search.

Perhaps to avoid two springs with the same natural frequency working in parallel in the same assembly.
