Dang it..a 4th CB 11 in Maggie Valley

I though there was going to be some exclucivity in owning one of these.lol...got in from dinner, sitting in the hotel room, look out the window and there is another CB 1100 in the lot here in Maggie Valley. this one is on a trailer with an FJR. I go out to see who it is, and its a fellow named Mike and his son from Alabama. Mike has been on the forum, maybe registered as BravoMike. Nice guy.Came down to ride the Dragon, Cherahola Skyway, BRP etc.

Hes thinking about selling the CB as his sons going into the service, so maybe a like new CB will show up in the classifieds.

Lol your right..saw a ton or rare black Harleys, a bunch of rainbow wings, quite a few red Ducatis actually, some fjrs, some v stroms, 1 or 2 STs, small herd of CBs, a KTM, but NOT ONE MOTO GUZZI.lol

That's pretty harsh. Italian bikes are known to have maintenance problems, but surely you'd get to ride your Guzzi around every now and then.

The joke among the Guzzi crowd, you have to wear red suspenders, smoke a corn cobb pipe and be an ol' geezer.

You might be mistaking Guzzi for the Ducati. Guzzi's are duck soup to maintain. Lock screw to adjust the tappets. Jugs are right there in the open, if you take your time it's a short hour to do eight valves. Much quicker if you know what you are doing and need to make time. With my Griso you don't have to drop the pan to change the oil filter.

And no chain.

But they are not for everyone; which may explain why you don't see many. I think the V7's and the new 1400 California will change that.

But for the most part they don't hold their value and trying sell your used one is a royal pain.

Want rare, get a Bking. I've only seen one on the road once in the 2 1/2 years I've had mine. I'd love to park a cb1100 next to it one day.

My younger brother and I used to work for a Guzzi dealer, and he ( my brother) had a 72 850 Eldorado. His favorite bike of all time to this day. Back then the Guzzi riders, for some reason, all wore black engineer boots, and tucked their jeans down into them. My brother was only 19 at the time but refused to do that. The Eldorado was a great touring bike with a Bates fairing on it. Truly all day comfortable, large gas capacity, shaft drive. Great sound, and reliable as long as you don't ride it like a 19 year old tends to ride. He went thru several universal joints pulling wheelies on that behemoth. Wasn't the Guzzis fault. Only left him stranded once in Ga when his automotive style distributor drowned out in an all day rain. They've since cured that problem with modern electrics.

I don't care for the small jug 750s they are making now. I test road one and it was really uninspiring. The CB 1100 is a rocket bike in comparison. Id like to go look at Guzzis again just for fun, but the Guzzi dealer locator on their website cant find one for me to visit lol

I've always imagined Moto Guzzis as the sporting family man's Ducati. I took this snap while I was in London a couple years back and it sums up my thought: look at the concentration in this guy's eyes as he takes a short ride in the City with what looks to be his son, clearly skilled at riding a 'serious' performance bike. Of course some would like the rider and passenger to have more protective gear (I would as well), but aside from that, we have a serious rider, paying attention to the road, on a serious bike, on a beautiful day, but with enough room and time to bring the boy along. I love it!
