I don't get it either, seems like they would be closer, or maybe more options for everyone would be nice. Do they have to include ABS on all of the new bikes in Canada? Maybe that's why.
If I was buying now, instead of last year, I would be hard pressed to make a decision. The DLX is a really nice bike, and I would consider it, but I prefer the Standard. The totally blacked out bike, however, is not really my thing. I would have loved it 35 years ago, but today I would rather the red. So I would probably be looking for an unsold 2013, and pass up the new instruments and the 6 speed for the red standard.
At the end of the day, neither one of the 2014's available in the U.S. is a bike that is just a sure thing for me. The improvements don't overcome the things I prefer about the 2013.
Now if we had the blue standard that the Canadians have, (lucky Canadians,

), it would be a no brainer. For my tastes, the Canadian blue standard, with the black side plates,

, and ABS, is my favorite 2014 model.
Cheers
