Bike seat height Japan vs USA
#1
Hello, I was looking at the japanese honda website on CB. I noticed the jap version has lower ride height. Is it just the seat or the bike is actually lower? I'm a 5'6 asian...looks like the jap version height is perfect for me. I will be ordering K&H seat anyway but i was wondering if the difference comes from the seat or something else. Thanks

It's all built into the seat, everything else is the same.

And you can get one direct from Japan from Mr. T!

The Australian spec seat is the same as Japan. Low and quite streamlined compared to the US. More like a sports bike seat than the retro bread loaf style.

I have recently replaced the Aussie seat with a 2014 DLX Seat from the US to get some more height.

The new DLX seat is about 1 inch taller and wider in all positions. The profile is also more squared off rather than curved or tapered.

Attached are some photos that try to highlight the differences.

Thanks Ferret
The low seat height of the Aussie seat is great around town but a little cramped for a longer ride. I'm only 5'8" with a 30" inseam so the DLX seat is still OK despite being taller.

The extra width and padding may also prove to be more comfortable after a few more miles breaking the new DLX seat in.

Thanks for the pictures. I have serious doubts the 14dlx seat will work for me being so short. I have yet to be able to find one to sit on let alone ride but I think I could be in trouble. I am real close on the 13 seats and 14 standard seats. But I am real close on the 750 Nighthawk seat too. I just try to manage. Getting older and need to figure a way to be able to handle the extra weight ect... Shaving the seat is my only option or maybe find some way to swap the 14dlx seat if I ever get one for a Jap or Aussie seat some way or the other.

I should have posted this previously for reference.

Seat Height specifications for the Aus seat vs US are:

775mm vs 795mm = 20mm
or
30.5" vs 31.3" = 0.8"

I haven't got out the tape measure to actually check the Honda published numbers but the pictures posted look to show even more difference. Around 1" is my best guesstimate ?

From what I can see online the seat height specs published for the US CB 1100 2013 or 2014 are the same as that above 31.3" regardless of model.
Biker

So far I like the new seat. That DLX seat is quite substantial and looks and feels more like a real CB.

Sold to buy the new bike last year. More restoration was just too frustrating and costly when you just want to get out and ride. I miss the K7 but not the reliability from someting 37 years old.
