Tall Riders
#1
Hi everyone. I'm a CB500f owner, but have had a fondness for the CB1100 since my first visit to a MC dealership last year.

Me knees start to ache a little after a 100 or so miles on my 500f and I wonder if any other 6'2" riders might share their knee bend experience on the 1100.

I have been looking at an entirely different, taller bike. However, I keep coming back to the style and power of the 1100.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm 6 foot tall with a 36" inseam. No problems with the taller aftermarket Tiros-K or Corbin seats. The stock seat was a bit cramped.

6 1 here. I have bad knees already but they don't start to hurt until about 150 miles. To tell you the truth, any bike that only has one riding position is going to make your body hurt a little after awhile. This bike is totally worth having though. Every time you drive it you fall more in love with it.

I'm 6'-1" and a custom 1/2" Taller Corbin Seat made a big difference for the comfort of my knees, hips and posterior.

Another retro bike to consider, however, is the new Moto Guzzi V7 now that they added ABS and LOWERED the pegs on the 2016 models...great traditional styling, but a little down on power compared to the CB1100.

I'm 6'2", added a K&H High seat and 1" risers and the ergos are very comfortable now.

I'm six-two and with incipient arthritic issues.

The bike is a little cramped; but I've learned to adapt.

I was shopping for peg-lowering kits earlier; but it's late in the season and a move may be in the works. No time and the need isn't pressing.

FWIW, I just completed a 2500-mile round-trip on the thing...withOUT lowered pegs or an aftermarket seat. I was averaging, to start the day, about two-and-a-half hours without a break. Then, the time would shorten; but I was able to hold it to a break every 90 minutes.

And not a long one; and not a burning need. All in all, a bike that's more comfortable than average.

6'6", stock bike, no issues whatsoever. I don't plan on using this bike for any IBA SaddleSore 1000's, but for 4-5 hour Sunday rides, it's perfect.

Speaking of the Moto Guzzi V7 as an alternative, I owned a V7 Classic for a few years. One of my favorite bikes of all time. It's more diminutive than a CB1100 and, in my opinion, not the best choice for tall riders if you want to do long rides, but perfectly satisfying for shorter jaunts. The lowered pegs on the new V7II don't make a significant difference. But the handling of the V7C was sublime and on a twisty road, it would spank a CB1100. Just a lovely motorcycle.

6"4 (but with only a 32" inseam) and the bike fits me fine. My butt gets tired long before me knees ever ache. After about 6 or 7 hours into a day ride it gets to the point where I have to stretch my legs out on my imaginary highway pegs every 20 mins or so, but that's better than most bikes I've owned.
