Oil Leak
#1
I guess I will get to see how good Honda's warranty is.
About a week ago on my last ride I noticed a drop of oil on the oil filter. looked around a little didn't see any more so I figured the filter was leaking a little and I would take care of it when I changed the oil the first time (less than 300 miles to go ).
Today I got the license plate and tags and saw motor oil on the temp tags. looked around more thoroughly and found it was coming from where the crank case halves come together just above the oil filter. Not much I can do about that. So I would say a trip to the Honda Dealership.Sad

Husky,

Look up a little higher and see if maybe is leaking from the fitting for the oil cooler tube.

That would be a first if it was leaking between the case halves. We have seen so,e weeping from the valve covers on a few. Please keep us imformed.

I will look some more. No signs higher than the oil cooler line and that was just a splatter. It isn't leaking enough the drip on the garage floor. I'm going to clean it and watch it close if the weather allows me to ride a little.
I still need to find a good welder and fabricator to make a fairing mount.
I will keep you informed about the oil thing.

The more I study the oil thing the more I'm inclined to think that I ran over a puddle of oil. the amount and distribution of oil on the bike looks more like the case.Clap

Husky, That is good news! Like Ferret mentioned, no one has reported a case leak like that. That's why I suggested looking at the oil cooler line. I Figured it was a more likely failure.

You might want to look at you tires and brakes just to make sure you didn't splash oil on them. That could be a bad thing... Smile

Good news for sure! I wager you'll be able to put another 30,000 miles on the bike and not have one drop of oil...
