Hello from North California (David)

recently purchased a 2017 CB1100 Ex. I spent the last two months cleaning the motorcycle and making a few modifications. I have two “setups” for the motorcycle. I created them based on information I gathered from the CB1100 Forum. Thank you.

I love this motorcycle for its graceful lines and perfect performance. That I can complete all of the work myself is wonderful. Be safe and thanks again for helping me. I look forward to learning more from the CB1100 Forum.

Looks great, David. Can you describe the setups?

The previous owner had set the motorcycle up like a cafe racer. He removed the back vendor, used a sport tire, adjusted the handlebars, and installed bar end mirrors. The bike look great and rode well as a pseudo cafe racer.

I am 5’11” and weigh 180 pounds. I am also 60 years old. I found the adjusted position to place slightly more stress on my back and I found that the small vibration also caused my hands to be be a little sore after an hour on the bike.

I “returned” the motorcycle to a OEM configuration: bought additional tire which are more geared to comfort than cornering, installed OEM mirrors which increased my field of vision, returned the handlebars to the original angle, installed bar-end weights, and added a quad lock with a wireless charger. It rides now more like a sport tourer than a cafe racer. I also added a reasonable size roll back which I strap to the seat. It is the right size for snacks, camera, or a change of clothes. Where I live, we have oceans, mountains, and vineyards within 50 miles. I will use the roll bag for those trips when I forget about my stressful life and simply enjoy the ride a God’s creation.

İmage

I love both looks and experiences. In a few hours, I can transform the bike easily with the spare parts

Noted. I will have to man up and find the patience and luck to install them!

7RE: Hello from Northern California
Welcome, Rdprdp01 from down south a bit. Vinyards, oceans and mountains. I'm guessing where you must be... any other hints?

Man, gotta give you some props for rolling with the inevitable, instantaneous "Put some RLETs on it" peanut gallery comments. Rather than asking what they are, sounds like you're up for dropping some coin on a few decorative bits of rubber and jumping in! I ended up putting them on all of my bikes, and have never determined if the good juju just works for Hondas or if it transfers to other brands, but I will say that I haven't faced tragedy on any of my machines, so I'm leaning toward the good energy.

No manning up needed. Just put a glove on your strong hand to get some grip. Squirt your favorite rubber preservative inside to lube it up. Push till it's on.
You know what? I actually would like a pickle.
2013 CB1100 - Don't need to drop a gear. Only have five, just twist the right hand
2012 Bonneville - Drop a gear and get away from people with old Triumph stories
2021 Interceptor 650 - Just don't drop it

Hello Howdy and welcome to the forum. I like the bike in stock form. Sounds like you have a great place to ride Thumbs Up

I live in the East Bay in a city called Pleasanton. I prefer the stock configuration too. I make no apology for asserting the CB1100 EX is the most beautiful bike ever manufactured. I did splash a little paint on the calipers to draw more attention to the gas tank, which is a work of art.

I know this gushing over metal, chrome, and paint probably reflects one of my many deficits, but the bike makes me truly happy with each step I take as I approach it.
